Qualifications - High school diploma, GED or equivalent required - Some college or associates degree preferred - Ability to work with patients required Radiology Technical Assistant Per Diem - Weekends The Radiology Technical Assistant works as a fundamental part of the Radiology healthcare team. Works under the direct supervision of radiologic technologists and department management. The Technical assistant is responsible for assisting the technologists as instructed during routine procedures (i.e. such as lifting, transporting, setting up patients and directing patients in and out of the Radiology suite). Assists RSR’s with scheduling Imaging exams and answering phone calls. Technical assistant reports directly to Director of Radiology and the Lead MRI technologist - Works with the supervisor and technologists to assist in efficient daily operations and patient workflow - Provides safe and compassionate care to patients of all ages - Follows proper Patient Identification Process - Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies including HIPAA and Hand Hygiene - Appropriately assists patients identified as a falls risk - Exercises sound independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressure and in a variety of situations - Ability to locate emergency equipment, code carts and understands importance of calling the Code Team vs. the Rapid Response Team - Monitors and replenishes the department’s stock and linen supplies - Prepares and cleans the equipment and room before/after each patient to maintain a clean and safe work environment - Assists technologists with patient positioning, moving and lifting during exams in the department - Expedites patient transport between departments and patient care units when needed - Maintains professional behavior and communications within the department and throughout the hospital - Achieves positive relationships with patients, families, visitors and other healthcare providers and contributes to a favorable public image of the radiology dept and hospital - Ability to utilize EPIC, phone and paging systems to assist at the front desk - Facilitates expediting patient’s visits without compromising patient care - Demonstrates an ability to work safety within the MRI environment as noted below: - Follows established guidelines regarding access to the various MRI safety zones. Prior to patients or personnel entering the MRI scan room reviews all screening forms for completeness and investigates any potential contraindications of implanted or imbedded metallic objects and or devices, whether implanted or imbedded by surgical means or through accidental exposure. - Screen all patients, staff and visitors entering Zone 4 to ensure by all means possible that ferrous materials are not brought into the scan room by means which may include but not limited to; verbal questioning, physical screening with handheld detection wand, visual observations, and changing patients into hospital gowns as necessary. - Demonstrates understanding of Universal precautions, aseptic technique, hand hygiene and maintains cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment - Provides safe patient care - Adheres to radiation safety principles - Ability to use Epic, telephone and paging systems - Knowledge of medical terminology and radiology procedures - Interpersonal skills allowing effective communication with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. - Communicates in a professional, courteous, clear and concise manner. - Adheres to safety standards, established policies, procedures and clinical practice guidelines related to Radiology operations. - Physically capable of performing all duties related to this position Recruiter: Scholefield, Conor Mass General Brigham Job ID 3302113.
