The CCS Corporate Marketing Department provides leadership to the firm’s overall marketing strategy and programs. This growing operation is organized into four key pillars aligned with the cornerstones of our tactical priorities: Brand Awareness, Strategic Events & Conferences, Content and Thought Leadership, and Field Partnerships.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Senior Director, Content Strategy will join this high-performing and fast-growing marketing operation, providing leadership to the content marketing function. This professional will be responsible for driving the firm’s overall content strategy, designing the annual editorial calendar, and working with the content marketing team to manage each associated publication from conception through completion. The ideal candidate brings excellence in communication, editorial writing, complex project management, and critical thinking.
Key responsibilities include:
Content Strategy & Planning
Conducting an analysis of current content publications, evaluating effectiveness and isolating opportunities for enhancement.
Collaborating with marketing, business development, and client services leaders to identify key audiences and messaging for firm-wide content creation.
Designing the annual editorial calendar and strategy, leveraging diverse publication channels to maximize CCS’s thought leadership presence.
Exploring and engaging additional sponsored content partnership opportunities.
Working with field marketers and business development team members on a content distribution strategy and associated promotion strategies.
Direct Content Development & Project Management
Serving as the primary author and project manager for CCS’s marquee annual publications, including the Philanthropic Landscape and Philanthropy Pulse Report.
Project managing all additional high-profile CCS publications, uniting the work of content and digital marketing, graphic design, and firm-wide subject matter experts to produce top quality articles, data reports, case studies, web pages, and other content.
Coordinating with internal sector and service-line leaders to directly develop messaging, promotional content, and sales collateral, positioning the value of CCS to solve industry-specific needs.
Leveraging data and insights from external client surveys, polls, and other means of data collection to directly develop additional reports and insights publications.
Directly partnering on existing sponsored content development projects.
Optimizing Team & Department Content Production
Managing all members of the Content Marketing team:
Direct supervision of current content manager.
Recruitment and training of an additional new copywriter position (2025).
Establishing clear performance expectations for all team members.
Providing constructive feedback, coaching, and professional development to grow the skills of the team.
Developing and enforcing a common CCS voice, ensuring all written, external messaging maps to an overarching content strategy.
Serving as a primary editor for additional content created by the Brand Awareness, Strategic Events & Convenings, and Field Partnerships teams.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related industry.
Experience driving content development and strategy in a similar business climate.
Creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills.
Strong data analysis skills to enhance content production and drive strategic decision-making, with the ability to interpret data trends for use in publications and inform broader marketing strategies.
The capacity to discern overall trends and patterns, absorb different pieces of data, and synthesize the best path forward.
High degree of personal integrity and accountability.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external.
Familiarity with publication, automation, and project management tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, Wordpress, Hubspot, and Google Analytics.
Familiarity with the culture and structure of the nonprofit industry and/or fundraising practice preferred.
An interest in and commitment to the mission and values of CCS Fundraising and its clients.
Salary range: $105,000 - $120,000
