what they say or do has a positive outcome on those around them.ROLE (High level):As a Stream Restoration Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation and sustainability of stream restoration projects. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough inspections and oversight of restoration sites, ensuring compliance with design specifications, environmental regulations, and best practices in conservation.Your ROLE (Logistics):Reporting To: Project ExecutiveWhere You Work: Onsite (Washington D.C.)Salary Range: $130,000Your Role (Responsibilities):Site Inspection:
Conduct regular inspections of restoration sites to ensure that the work is progressing according to the design specifications, permits, and environmental regulations.Monitoring Compliance:
Check that the contractors are complying with local, state, and federal regulations related to water quality, sediment control, and environmental protection.Erosion Control:
Ensure that erosion and sediment control measures (like silt fences or sediment basins) are installed and maintained properly to protect the surrounding environment.Construction Oversight:
Oversee construction activities, such as grading, plantings, and in-stream structure installation, to ensure that the natural stream functions are restored effectively.Reporting:
Document progress, issues, and any corrective actions needed, often providing reports to local authorities, environmental agencies, or other stakeholders involved in the project.Post-Construction Monitoring:
After a project is completed, be involved in long-term monitoring of the site to track the effectiveness of the restoration and address any further environmental concerns.What We NEED You to Have:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Civil Engineering, or related field5+ years experience in stream restoration or environmental inspection.Knowledge of stream restoration techniques, environmental regulations, and ability to read engineering plans.Proficiency in site inspections, environmental impact documentation, and use of GPS/GIS technology.Ability to work in various conditions, strong written and verbal communication, and collaboration with stakeholders.Valid driver’s license; relevant certifications preferred (e.g., erosion control, wetland delineation).What We WANT You to Have:Knowledge of federal and District regulatory requirements is a plus.What you get:Vacation and Sick LeaveShort and Long-Term Disability InsuranceMcKissack & McKissack is an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of a diverse workforce.
