THE DEPARTMENT
The Human Resources Division is currently recruiting for a Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer. This is a full-time, 12-month management position.

THE POSITION
The Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer administers and directs activities related to the overall operation of human resources for certificated personnel in the District.
General supervision is received from the Chief Human Resources Officer and provides general supervision to subordinate administrators and managers.
NOTE: This position is 100% in-person. Qualified candidates will report to physical worksites. The position currently is assigned to the central LAUSD office at 333 South Beaudry Ave., Los Angeles.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer (DCHRO) position will possess:
- Experience managing complex human resources functions in large organizations, including the day to day operations and long-term planning.
- Strong professional human resources experience with a focus on certificated recruitment, selection and employee processing.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of human resources practices within an educational setting, particularly in the supervision and support of principals, teachers, and administrators.
- Strong leadership experience to oversee human resources organizational structures and ensuring operational efficiency through technology and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience working effectively with labor partners and resolving employee grievances in alignment with district goals.
- Ethical competency, to ensure that decisions are aligned with the District's best interests while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Readiness to start contributing from day one, with a commitment to continuous learning, growth, and delivering results in a dynamic environment.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and reviews the administration of the Human Resources Division through managers and staff personnel engaged in:
- The recruitment, selection, classification, examinations, certification, contracting, processing assignment, salary administration, staff relations, employee records, certificated evaluation, and other personnel services for District certificated personnel.
- The administration of the planning, development, and implementation of collective bargaining with exclusive bargaining unit representatives, certificated and classified complaint procedures, and the resolution of employee grievance.
- District human resources practices and procedures including, but not limited to, classification, compensation, rules/policy development, and collective bargaining.
- The analysis and evaluation of proposed legislation concerning recruitment, selection, assignment, certification, classification, compensation, and related personnel functions.
- The implementation of technology solutions for certificated human resources operations.
- Hiring practices that promote the recruitment, selection, and retention of underrepresented groups to ensure a diverse workforce.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. A graduate degree in business, public administration, industrial psychology or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience as a human resources executive, manager or administrator for a large public or private employer, or experience as a Superintendent of Schools or Assistant Superintendent of Schools, or comparable executive experience in a large school district.
Special: A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the use of a motor vehicle, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score.
