Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NDG2489000 and is part of the TN ARMY Army National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 110. Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) GS-2210-11 MILITARY, you will manage all assigned servers and server resources, analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; monitoring capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures. Install, configures, and maintains servers and server resources in support of business processing requirements and ensures that servers are tested for stability. Install and upgrade operating systems and layered software packages, ensuring compatibility with Army standards prior to installation of upgrade or new release. Develop and maintain database of hardware and software configurations. Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with Army and DOD standards and maintains system configurations. Monitor and manage the performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability of installed servers and associated server resources. Implement security procedures and tools. Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems, and ensures server functionality, integrity, and efficiency. Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provide technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. Provide formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and can work with the system without undue interruption. Maintain liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-4 through E-8; WO1 through CW5; O-1 through O-4 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled you to understand the stages required to automate a work process; experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade or 36 months of experience or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Education Education Requirement: High School Diploma/GED Substitution of Education to qualify for this position is not available.
