In pursuit of this, our 70+ person UX Studio provides the user research, UX design, and brand design for Kindle E-readers, Kindle apps for phones & tablets, Author & Publisher tools, and book shopping experiences used by millions of readers and thousands of authors around the world.We are seeking an intuitive Senior UX Research Manager to lead the Reading Experience side of our UXR team. This role will continue to help mature research into a core competency of our organization, putting user insights at the heart of the product development process. The ideal candidate will have a passion for understanding the latest learnings and innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design and applying these to your work.Key job responsibilitiesDeeply understand the nature of our reading businesses and customers.To reinforce UX Research and the voice of readers as central and essential in our product process.Actively engage with decision makers at all levels of the organization to take aligned action on research findingsInspire partner teams (design, product, engineering) and help them internalize opportunities to delight customers and differentiate our offerings.Help set the long-term vision for the future of the UXR team as the discipline continues to mature, document the impact of strategic user research and communicate it broadly to inspire peers and stakeholders.Increase the availability, scope, and quality of insights available to Books product teams. - Aid in developing goals and targets that help the team progress towards major strategic objectives as quickly as possible.Mentor and develop the team, create opportunities for growth and advancement.Scale & evolve the team and continue to hire world-class talent.Collaborate closely with the other senior managers to set the culture and be responsible for team happiness, career progression, training and mentorship, hiring, and general team cohesion.About the teamOur mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. We are looking for a passionate, design-focused, and customer-obsessed leader to join our team.Basic Qualifications10+ years of experience in the field of UX research with a focus on early, generative research that informs long term business strategy, ideally in the digital products and services industry.7+ years of formal management experience.Extensive background in research with a portfolio demonstrating command of methods and tools in exploratory and evaluative capacities, as well as direct work with users and data.Strategic, business-building approach to research with a proven capacity for translating quantitative and qualitative data into bottom-line impact.Effective communication skills and storytelling, the ability to sell your ideas and advocate for resources and investmentBroad knowledge of qualitative research methodologies and the proven ability to execute the right methodology to get the needed result.Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.Preferred QualificationsExperience systematically weaving research insights into actionable ideation and design processes.Understanding of the product design process and how research is appropriately integrated at each phase.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $296,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
