Topeka, Kansas or Kansas City, MO.

The candidate is required to reside within this territory or in proximity to our Fairfield, OH Headquarters.

Salary : The pay range for this position is

$75,000 - $140,000

annually. The pay determination is based on the applicants education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be ready to:

working in partnership with producers and an assigned underwriting assistant to solicit, underwrite and price new and renewal surplus lines commercial property and casualty businessdetermine individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditionsdevelop, analyze and evaluate information and exposures for complex risksachieve production and loss ratio goals within assigned regional territorywork independently with a high level of authority and judgmentdetermine need for and secure appropriate reinsurance on individual accountsmentor and train underwriters and underwriting assistantsdevelop successful business relationships with producers and reinsurersresearch new products and coverage formstravel within assigned territory which may include some overnight stays

Qualifications:

Be equipped with:

property and casualty underwriting experienceproficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlookstrong interpersonal skillsorganizational and time management skillsstrong decision-making, analytical, and negotiating abilitiesdesire to build relationships and listen effectivelyability to develop positive working relationships with team members and agents by working to find possible solutions that are beneficial to allskilled use of verbal communication to explain, negotiate and present information and an understanding of when to use verbal or writtena valid drivers license. Final candidates will also be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check, because the position may include a company vehicle

Bring education or experience from:bachelors degree or extensive relevant excess and surplus lines underwriting experience5+ years of experience working with commercial lines property and casualty products is requiredprior excess and surplus casualty underwriting experience with a carrier, broker, or MGA is preferredASLI or CPCU designations preferredcandidates with a carrier background will be given preference; complete training is provided in Cincinnati, OH, prior to deployment to regional territory
