BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION: The P ED SOFTWARE APPLICATION SVCS Department of the P SR VP CIO Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island. (Role: PROFESSIONAL) JOB FUNCTION: The SAP Basis Administrator III is responsible for managing, installing, configuring, monitoring, tuning, and providing on-going Basis technical support for all SAP systems. This individual will troubleshoot and resolve SAP issues and will proactively enhance and maintain system stability, integrity, and performance. The SAP Basis Administrator III will also coordinate small to large-sized projects and will mentor junior SAP Basis Administrator. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Install, maintain, configure, and tune SAP environments to ensure integrity, and stability. Perform daily administration, monitoring, and system health checks. If issues arise, troubleshoot and perform problem analysis and resolution. Lead continuous improvement processes. Analyze system logs and performance metrics and conduct workload analysis. Recommend and implement improvements in a timely manner to ensure optimal performance. Perform periodic system refreshes and maintain multi-landscape environments through tasks such as system refreshes and transport management. Ensure adherence to configuration management policies and troubleshoot transport errors. Coordinate small to large-sized projects. Serve as lead contact for systems support; communicates project status and issues to team lead, Project Manager, customer and/or Director. Provide support and perform problem resolution during development and maintenance phases of SAP projects. Handle, prioritize, and resolve tickets that range from break-fixes to enhancements. Able to troubleshoot the low-to-complex tickets independently. Coordinates and/or handles technical support with business users, as/if needed. Plan and implement SAP upgrades (kernel, SPS, EHP, patches) and new implementations as required. Requires collaborating with functional and technical teams. Monitors and assesses new technologies, products and techniques, recommends pilots, prototypes and adoption. Includes planning, designing, and architecting of the SAP landscape. Proposes innovative solutions. Trains/assists Basis Administer I and IIs on advanced uses of tools and techniques used to analyze, develop, test, troubleshoot, and document SAP and SAP related information systems. Provides feedback regarding performance evaluations for Basis Administrators I and IIs; recommends project staffing; assists with project budgets and forecast support operations; and performs other staff functions as needed. Participate in an on-call pager rotation and be available for both scheduled and unscheduled work. Provide emergency problem resolution coverage in the event of either a system or database malfunction on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week basis. Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge Requirements Extensive knowledge of the principles of information, data and office technology management normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of utility business, business and/or engineering principles & practices. Excellent understanding and knowledge of Unix, SAN, and Oracle database. Extensive experience with the installation and maintenance of SAP systems/infrastructure and software components such as ECC, CRM, Solution Manager, GRC, Fiori, PO, and BW. This includes working knowledge of SAP Basis administration; managing, monitoring, transport system management, system refreshes, upgrades support packs, tuning, and troubleshooting of the SAP systems. Ability to translate business requirements into technical design and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. Ability to comply with, and contribute to, system configuration standards and guidelines. Ability to identify system constraints or gaps in business requirements and effectively communicate issues/risks to the project manager in a timely manner. Ability to maintain status of tasks, defects, issues, and support requests on a daily basis in an appropriate tool. Proven analytical and problem solving skills for assessment of complex production support issues and recommend / implement effective solutions. Experience Requirements Extensive (10 years or more) of hands-on experience in Basis Administration. Extensive (10 years or more) of hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating system, SAN, and Oracle database. Possess SAP Basis and/or SAP Security certification(s). Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide BASIS Administrator I/IIs in their work. At least 10 years experience in IT. Bachelor's degree in IT, IS Computer Science or related degree.
