Basic Function Application support for various business unit systems both transit and technically focused commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom developed applications and reports. Responsible for complex system design and documentation, including requirements for database, application, and custom developed applications and reports. Consults with end users to test and debug applications. Able to perform highly complex system configuration and design workflow processes. Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties Provides high level of application support for the various transit and technically focused systems in support of METRO business units, COTS and custom developed applications and reports. Performs complex system design and documentation, including requirements for database, application, reports and operating system environment for the various transit and technically focused systems in support of METRO business units, COTS, and custom developed applications and reports. Works closely with application vendors and developers to support, troubleshoot and upgrade COTS applications assigned. Relies on experience with relational databases and application programming to develop applications, reports, and interfaces. Works closely with internal customers to develop, support and troubleshoot custom developed applications and reports. Serves in a leadership role to architect and develop specialized software to support the needs of METRO business. This would include web based, mobile based, and desktop applications. Develops high-quality documentation of scope requirements and objectives in both written and graphical format, for complex systems and processes. Performs system configuration and designs complex workflow processes. Leads testing and debugging efforts. Generates system and user documentation; trains end-users when required. Consults with users and Business Analysts to identify current operating procedures for objective clarification. Collaborates with other team members to facilitate the presentation of ideas, recommendations and projects to senior management. Prepares and delivers professional, timely, well organized and informative presentations including training and process recommendations. Communicates and handles sensitive information. Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers. Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency's Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP). Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education Requirement Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred. Years & Experience Required Minimum six (6) years of experience in application development and support. Experience with transit specific applications is a plus. Knowledge & Skills Required Ability to apply technical understanding to a broad range of applications and an understanding of complex data models. Capable of diverse business discipline assignments. Ability to guide users and lead project tasks for mission critical systems that support METRO business. Advanced knowledge in Windows Server OS, TCIP/IP, troubleshooting tools, tSQL & PL/SQL scripting and stored procedures, Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, SSIS, and Power BI (preferred), HTML5, JavaScript, OS Level Scripting, ASP.net and associated Microsoft based web development. Must have excellent analytical skills in understanding complex data relationships. Strong interpersonal and communications (written/verbal) skills. Must be able to present ideas, recommendations and projects to senior management. Experience with transit and technically focused software would be preferred by METRO. .
