About the role: WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a position to join our team. This role will create HMI/PLC software for control and monitoring of industrial drive and starter packages using programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI). You will create designs and documentation for control panels. These include technical product specification and software inspection plans. Design/test/install/ ladder logic and/or software and provide technical support. Also design electrical power and control. PLC/HMI programmers work full time but experience a limited amount of travel and activity in the workplace, such as supervising the installation of their programs and provide commissioning assistance. Primary Responsibilities: Create instruction documents specific to software development applications. Develop automated machine/process control systems using PLC / HMI solutions. Develops schematics, bill of materials and assembly drawings using AutoCAD. Traveling to clients' locations. Meeting with clients to discuss their mechanical or electrical automation needs. Drawing electrical or mechanical schematics to demonstrate how processes will work. Developing and installing machine programs using automation software and custom coding languages. Determining automation test criteria before the final installation. Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability. Troubleshooting system errors. Overseeing the successful installation of PLC programs. Documenting development processes and operation manuals. Providing clients with technical support Working in coordination with engineering and production team. Adhere to best practices for documentation and version control. Programmers have to keep colleagues, managers, and clients in the loop as to progress and deviations from schedule or budget so as not to disturb the workflow of the whole. Other duties and tasks as assigned. Education: Engineering degree or equivalent preferred Knowledge / training: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel). Basic familiarity with 3-phase and single phase power design required. VFD and Soft Starter's principles required. AutoCAD required. Industrial standards and how they are applied. Standards include but are not limited to: UL 508A, NFPA, NEMA. Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods, as well as the ability to maintain design cost targets. Understanding of BOM Systems and Material Management. Advanced PLC programming languages (including ladder logic, sequential function charts, function block diagram, structured text, and Java Script) required. General experience with automation software and equipment required. Excel intermediate (using charts, graphs, fonts, borders, shading, formulas, tables, pivot etc) required. Basic electronics and circuit analysis (analyze basic DC and AC - basic electrical laws, series and parallel circuits, network analysis concepts, grounding techniques, magnetism, inductance/capacitance, resistance, diodes, potentiometers, logic operations etc. (Required) Digital systems: logic families, programming with arithmetic/logic instructions, I/O programming, timers, interrupts and interfacing technique. Exceptional logic reasoning abilities. Excellent ability to work without direct supervision. Excellent mathematics and arithmetic skills. Ability to verify code and data for accuracy. Ability to solve complex problems. Experience with programming and implementation of Serial and Ethernet communication protocols. Thorough understanding of various data formats and conversion methods. Experience with data logging, storage, and retrieval. Experience: 3 year of relevant work experience is required.
