Garda Capital Partners (Garda) is a multi-billion dollar alternative investment firm with over 20 years of experience deploying relative value strategies across fixed income markets for institutional investors. Garda has offices in Wayzata, New York City, West Palm Beach, Geneva, Zug, Copenhagen, Singapore, and Scottsdale. Garda is looking to hire a Senior Database Administrator to be a part of our Research and Technology (R&T) team based out of our Wayzata or Geneva office. This role is for an experienced DBA to work in a small team providing technical expertise, oversight and maintenance of Garda's multiple databases and database environments. Databases currently in scope are Oracle, Postgres and SQL Server. In addition, we are also evaluating migration to cloud databases. The DBA will work collaboratively with the infrastructure, application development and vendor teams to ensure that our database environments are reliable and positioned for future growth. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting databases that power critical OLTP applications used in financial trading and OLAP type databases with large historical datasets. We are looking for a well-rounded candidate that has many tools at their disposal to get the job done or someone willing to learn something new to complete the task when applicable. Position Responsibilities: Provide oversight of the firm's databases that currently include Oracle (EE), Postgres including Timescale extension, and SQL Server (minor). Establish, monitor, maintain, and manage database health and performance indicators to ensure high availability and high performance. Troubleshoot production issues, identifying root cause and implementing technical resolution in a timely manner. Provide off-hours support as needed to ensure maximum system availability. Design, install, maintain, and upgrade the organization's database environments. Design, implement, maintain, and test database backup and recovery procedures. Assist the application development teams on logical data design and with large data onboarding / data migrations. Liaise with third party database and infrastructure support vendors. Qualifications & Desired Skills: Minimum 5 years of database management / administration on Oracle or Postgres with increasing scope and responsibilities Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields or equivalent combination of education and work experience 3 years of experience with database design and operations 3 years of troubleshooting and resolving database issues including performance tuning Expert level SQL query development and optimization skills Experience with Linux administration and scripting Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and manage multiple priorities and multitask with limited supervision Must be able to provide on-call support on an as needed basis (24x5) Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written (English) communication skills with the ability to communicate across and work with a global team Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, time sensitive team environment Working knowledge of BI and ETL tools, application development and programming languages (python, C#) Knowledge of cloud databases, cloud architectures, devops is a plus This role is also eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, healthcare plan, 401(k) matching program, etc. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education. Base Salary for this role is expected to be between: $100,000-$150,000 USD
