Central Sterile Technician - Salem, MA - 13 Weeks ContractSigma Healthcare team is currently looking for a Central Sterile Technician to work onsite at our client's healthcare facility in Salem, MA.
Shift:
08:00 - 16:30
Unit Description:
The Sterile Processing Department (Central Supply, or Sterile Supply as it is also known) comprises that service within the hospital in which medical/surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored, and issued for patient care.Responsibilities:
Extensive knowledge of the best practices for infection control, hazardous waste disposal and emergency preparednessIndependently performs receiving, sorting, and decontamination of surgical/clinic items and instrumentation.Inspection and packaging of single instruments and instrument kits.Identification of appropriate sterilization method and cycle selection.Keen attentiveness to detail to monitor working conditions, inspect equipment and oversee the decontamination processOrganizational skills to efficiently fulfill supply requestsFamiliarity with a wide range of surgical instruments, medical devices and equipmentDexterity to operate equipment used for decontamination and sterilizationExperience using databases to look up infection control procedures as neededStrong oral and written communication skills to interact with members of the care team and keep accurate records.Requirements:

2yrs.Skill Sets Required:
Independently performs receiving, sorting, and decontamination of surgical/clinic items and instrumentation; inspection and packaging of single instruments and instrument kits; identification of appropriate sterilization method and cycle selection, appropriate documentation for all sterile processes; and accurate inventory assignment relating to the case cart build process.EMR (Charting System):
EPIC & SPM.Certifications Required:
CRCST or CBSPD.Additional Information:
Flexible endoscope reprocessing experience is a plus.
