Springfield Hospital has an excellent opportunity for a Board Eligible/Board Certified General Surgeon to utilize their skills in an environment that values quality care, employee engagement, and job satisfaction. Springfield is a small, rural, full-service town on the Connecticut River in east-central Vermont -- only 3 hours' drive from Boston!

Job Description: Our mission is to be a place where patients want to receive care and employees want to work. This is a small, rural hospital where the General Surgeon will be primarily on solo coverage. Searching for an experienced (at least 1 year of General Surgery work experience is required, at least 5 years of General Surgery work experience is preferred). Facility does not have a robot on site Busy ER: 18,000 visits/year Trauma is rare. No multi-trauma will come to Springfield. General Surgeon can expect mostly bread and butter cases - gall bladder, hernia, a lot of upper and lower GI Endoscopy (about 100 per month) as there is no GI onsite. Sees ages ~16+. No peds as there is no pediatrician onsite. Emergency Department is run by an MD. 4 day work week, M-Th; if they're working the weekend call then off Thursday and work Fri, Sat, Sun. 10 days of call/month. If they take more call than that (approximately 5 extra days available per month), they are reimbursed extra for it. Call is manageable and will fluctuate. - Mondays - OR - Tuesdays - GI-Endo - Wednesdays - OR or GI-Endo - Thursdays - Clinic Support staff: Medical Assistant in clinic, RN in OR and GI-Endo, no APP support Takes about 90 days to get a VT license for an MD; less time for DO - will consider either, but prefers a quick start Credentialing takes about 30 days - can get started without a license 1-hour response time to hospital when on call and 15-mins response to a page is required. Must already live in or relocate within this radius.
