Anticipated Start Date: December 2024 Position Summary: Under general supervision of director or designee, the incumbent assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of servers/storage/applications in a multi-site or multi-campus environment. This includes assisting in researching and recommending new hardware, software, and management tools to enhance service quality. Example of Job Duties: Assists in the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, patch management and support of enterprise systems that include messaging, file and storage, web, database, print, directory services and backup systems. Monitors the ongoing operation and performs activities to assist with performance tuning, troubleshooting of hardware, OS and application issues. Assists with the regularly required maintenance, backups, and firmware upgrades Assists in the recommendation of new hardware, software, and management tools to enhance service quality. Designs and develops automated procedures using a variety of scripting and programming languages. Analyzes system data for capacity and planning purposes. Provides management reports and performance analysis for the systems/storage. Participates in organizations disaster recovery and business resumption planning, testing, and implementation. Participates in organizations emergency response planning, testing, and implementation. Maintains appropriate documentation on procedures, configurations, and equipment inventory. Assists with small projects including needs analysis, planning, testing, and implementation Assists in the management and operation of organizations data center(s). Assists in the implementation of policies and procedures, along with investigation and resolution of security incidents, to ensure a stable and secured system infrastructure. Works directly with vendors and technical support personnel on equipment and software purchases, as well as support and maintenance contracts. Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those described above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Technology related area with three (3) years of experience with responsibilities involving installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and support of systems/storage/applications in a multi-site or multi-campus environment. Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: Proven hands-on experience with one or more of the following technologies: Directory Services, Email/Messaging, Office 365, Azure, Identity Management, Remote Access, Patch Management, Web Services, Enterprise Database Services, storage/SAN. Good understanding of key network technologies such as DNS, DHCP and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, etc. Working knowledge of currently supported Windows or Unix operating systems. Proven hands-on experience with VMware, Azure, Citrix or other virtualization platform. Ability to write and debug scripts using common scripting languages. Ability to take ownership and manage small projects from start to completion. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work with people of various backgrounds and on all levels of technical knowledge. Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.). Starting Salary: Minimum Salary; $69,669 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
