Consult, review, design, and engineer network security solutions by tactically embedding with network security teamRepresent the CISO's department to ensure network security initiatives align with enterprise information protection strategies and patternsGuide and advise network security engineering teams on security best practicesConsult on large enterprise network security projects to ensure best practices are followedMonitor for network redesigns that will impact security capabilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, processes, and methodologies that support network security capabilitiesActively monitor, assess, and recommend tactical and strategic initiatives based on new and emerging threats posing risk to our companyStay apprised of current and proposed security changes impacting regulatory, privacy and security industry best practicesDrive remediation efforts after security assessment findings outline weaknesses requiring attentionMentor other staff members to ensure consistency, quality, and productivity of deliverablesFurther impress us with:
Bachelor's or equivalent experience with an emphasis in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, MIS related field5+ years' experience in cloud and on-prem technologies (Systems administration of Unix/Linux/Windows, AWS and/or Azure networking, firewalls, etc.)5+ years' experience in development, infrastructure, or cybersecurityUnderstanding of applicable risk management frameworks such as NISTExperience with CICD pipelines to automate application and infrastructure code deploymentsExperience with workload orchestration platforms such as KubernetesUnderstanding of a wide range of cybersecurity capabilities including data security, security engineering, identify & access management, incident response, logging & monitoring, and penetration testingRelevant certifications from GIAC, ISC(2) and other recognized cybersecurity industry organizationsExperience with Infrastructure as code concepts and tooling including Terraform and YAMLExperience with development and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or equivalent

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
