POSITION 25S50 TITLE:
Aide/ECCAT

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:To assist the teacher in teacher-directed instructional activities. In addition, the ECCAT will assist the teacher in classroom management, socialization activities, and basic living skills of students. When necessary, the aide will assist in administration of emergency first aid and will lift and lend assistance as needed by any physically handicapped child within the classroom/school. ECCAT will assist in other locations during other periods of the day will as assigned by the principal. Other duties including
bus duty
and/or bus run
will be determined by county/school administration and assigned as needed.
The applicant must be able to independently lift and toilet children 50 - 150 pounds and over.
The applicant will also demonstrate the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the job description, with or without reasonable accommodation.
QUALIFICATIONS:The applicant will provide demonstrable competencies in reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics. He/She will demonstrate verbal and written expression as well as the ability to follow both oral and written instructions. He/She will demonstrate the ability to appropriately manage young children through the use of certain behavioral management techniques. The ECCAT will demonstrate a working knowledge of first aid. He/she must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
The applicant will complete the Early Childhood WVDE approved course work for the Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher Authorization. They will also complete the state mandated trainings in the science of reading and numeracy instruction. They must have ECCAT certification (at least temporary at first, progressing towards permanent certification.)
The applicant must pass the initial/yearly
Bus Training offered by the transportation department since they may be called upon to serve on a bus run.
EMPLOYMENT TERM:
Normal contract: 200 days, typically eight hours per day, but flexible as needed by bus run or student needs. Anticipated start date of November 15, 2024.
SALARY:
Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/mcs-salary/ plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Pay grade E-1.
