This position will split time between our Milwaukee Campus and Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. You will make an impact by supporting animals at our Milwaukee Campus, as well as animals and their awesome families at our Spay/Neuter Clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Performing high-volume, high-quality, safe spay/neuter surgeries for shelter and public animalsPerform other surgeries as needed for shelter animalsEnsuring safe, effective and efficient medical processes from check in to discharge, including follow upVaccinating animals and providing quality medical screeningsMonitoring the daily health of client and shelter animalsProviding medical information to clients and answer questions as neededDevelop and implement treatment plans as needed for animals in shelter and fosterTrain and support any WHS team members in all aspects of patient care and efficient/safe clinic practices, while maintaining a professional and positive approachAll other duties as assignedQualifications

DVM degree and license required; high volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine experience preferred; mentorship and training providedMust be committed to our organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positive approachAbility to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgroundsBenefits

About Us

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth and outreach programs, veterinary resources for the community, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state's busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group. WHS maintains a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
