Job Summary:
The Battery Storage Substation Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, with a focus on substations. This role involves managing all aspects of project development, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders. The Project Manager will ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Battery Storage Substation Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, with a focus on substations. This role involves managing all aspects of project development, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders. The Project Manager will ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
- Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all project phases are completed on time.
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
- Budget & Financial Management:
- Manage project budgets, monitor spending, and forecast financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and safety.
- Prepare regular financial and progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure project objectives align with their expectations.
- Lead project meetings and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders on project progress.
- Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Proactively address issues that arise during the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal impact on cost and timelines.
- Implement corrective actions to address project delays or performance issues.
- Quality & Safety Assurance:
- Ensure that all projects meet industry and company standards for quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to promote a culture of safety on site.
- Oversee commissioning and final inspections, ensuring systems are properly tested and functional.
- Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, contractors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure clear communication and coordination among all team members.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's preferred). - Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in project management within the energy, utility, or construction sectors.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale battery storage or substation projects from conception to completion.
- Experience with BESS, substations, and renewable energy technologies is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with electrical and civil engineering principles related to energy infrastructure.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar is preferred.
- OSHA 30 or other relevant safety certifications.
- This position may require travel to project sites.
- Some projects may involve working in remote or challenging environments.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
