SUMMARY
The Mortagage Loan Originator is resposible for aggressively expanding Andrews FCU's mortgage portfolio. We have built our program to give our Mortgage Loan Originators the very best opportunity to succeed. We are offering the opportunity for the right candidate to receive high dollar monthly commissions. As such, we are looking for the right candidate who will actively solicit and originate first mortgages primarily from sources not associated with Andrews FCU's "inside" first mortgage origination efforts. The primary market is the Northern Virginia area, but expansion into other markets is encouraged. Secure loans by facilitating and assisting applicants with the residential lending application process, provide timely feedback to the borrower, manage borrower expectations and ensure a great member experience resulting in repeat business and loan referrals. This position works with minimal supervision.

Requires the ability to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to use a personal computer and other applicable office equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with new and existing borrowers to take applications for residential mortgage loans.
- Establish and maintain business contacts that will generate potential new loan volume, build client base and increase business. These contacts include but are not limited to real estate brokers, realtors and builders
- Provide counsel on the advantages and disadvantages of various mortgage loan products based upon the borrower's needs and financial picture.
- Ensure all regulatory disclosures are in timely compliance and provided to applicant.
- Analyze applicant data, credit and collateral property value to determine accurateness of information and to preliminarily determine if borrower meets investor guidelines.
- Work with in-house support staff to facilitate the timely processing and closing of mortgage loans.
- Stay current on mortgage laws, rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all aspects of Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Truth and Lending Act (TILA) and all guidelines and policies governing the duties and responsibilities of the Outside Loan Officer.
- Maintains individual licensing in good standing at all times.
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires three years lending experience, with preferably one year in a mortgage underwriting environment.
- Must have working knowledge of FHA, VA and conventional guidelines for mortgage loan origination as well as applicable laws and regulations related to lending (e.g. Truth-in-Lending, HMDA, RESPA, ECOA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Bank Secrecy Act).
- Knowledge and experience with mortgage LOS systems preferred. Must have strong PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be detail oriented.
- Must be registered or be able to successfully register as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, and to obtain and provide the associated identifier.
- Must be able to maintain this registration and renew annually as required.
