Heavy Haul Class A CDL Driver

As a Heavy Haul Class A CDL Driver, you will be delivering heavy and light equipment as assigned and ensuring the operator is familiar with delivered equipment. Our CDL drivers oversee the safe loading/unloading of equipment and record/report the working condition of delivered and retrieved equipment, ensure the truck is clean and has current daily and weekly inspections, and monitor and schedule annual and DOT inspections as required.
Most deliveries will be large construction equipment including scrapers, haul trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, etc. As a heavy haul driver, you must have experience in hauling, loading, securing, and operating the equipment listed above. This equipment requires the use of a low boy trailer for transport. A qualified candidate must have experience transporting and operating a low boy trailer.
A typical day may include:
- Ensuring pre-trip and post-trip inspections are conducted and documented.
- Observing and reporting mechanical and safety failures
- Maintaining vehicle appearance by cleaning and washing
- Maintain all required certification, inspections, and medical compliance.
- Valid Class A CDL Driver's License is required with manual transmission experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of heavy haul/low boy experience required.
- Experience in construction and equipment is preferred.
- Commit to a drug-free workplace.
- Driving record violation-free for previous three years to include no record of any of the following violations:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Committing a felony with a motor vehicle
- Reckless driving
- Excessive speed
- Have excellent communication skills with dispatch.
- Always think and act with safety in mind
- Continually seek to improve maintenance and delivery processes.
- Ability to creatively solve problems.
- Self-starter and motivated to provide customer satisfaction.
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time and the ability to perform tasks such as walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and reaching.
- Ability to lift 70 pounds for short periods, often several times per day.
