Unit TELE - West Campus - # Beds: 60 with the potential to go up to 98 (4 units under the same umbrella) They wouldl be assigned to work in one of the 4 units (3A, 3B, 4A and 4B). They are all med surg tele, not a lot of delineation between them right now. - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5 - Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS ACLS - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: COVID, resp, GI, Diabetics, Tele, surgical. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Reading basic tele strips - Are RN's required to titrate drips : no - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: n/a - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Yes there is tele, Monitor techs read and nurses verify strips. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Both Charge and house supervisor - Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios: Yes, they have 1:10-15 patient ratio. - RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.): BiPap, CPAP, breathing treatments - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): Shifts are 7-7. - Schedules are made out for 4 weeks. Self scheduling is used but not final until the manager balances. - Weekend Requirements: 2 weekends per 4 week schedule - Holiday Requirements: Yes, they have to work holidays. For Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving, I like them to work 2 days and and eve or 2 eves and a day (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day). - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements?: Yes-There may be a very rare occasion where they would float to East Campus Med/Surg/Tele, or possible PCU if they have those skills at East or West Campus. - Floating for us is not that common. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: Any color of professional scrubs. No camo scrubs. - Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 1 Shift of orientation on the unit.
