Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled SUMMARY Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Senior Tax Manager to manage and oversee the Corporation's tax policies, objectives, and functions. This remote position involves working closely with the CFO, accounting department managers, directors, and various business teams to ensure tax compliance, evaluate tax impact and implications of business projects, lead relevant tax implementation strategies, and develop short and long-term strategic tax efficiencies. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. * Direct the preparation, review, and filing of corporate federal and state income tax returns, partnership federal and state income tax returns, company sales and use tax returns, and other tax returns as needed. * Prepare the annual income tax provisions, including support and relevant tax disclosures. * Work closely with the Accounting Department to provide tax rates and/or tax-related estimates for business forecasts and budgets. * Develop and oversee relationships between the Company and its external tax advisors. * Manage examinations and tax audits from tax authorities such as federal, state, and local, as well as sales and use tax. * Manage and provide support for various special tax-related projects. * Review company financial statements and other data to determine appropriate tax treatment of certain transactions. * Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments by modeling tax impacts for the Company, communicating the effects of these developments to the management team, and creating strategies to capitalize on the changes to tax legislation. * Support M&A transactions by assisting with tax due diligence and managing tax purchase price calculations. * Provide assistance for bids & proposals in determining tax requirements, particularly for international contracts. * Research and document significant tax positions. * Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures. * Direct strategy to increase the use of credits, incentives, and other tax-related accounting items. * Maintain effective controls and procedures over all aspects of the tax process. * Attend professional development and training seminars. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications * CPA license. * Seven (7) years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or industry accounting. * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Preferred * Master's degree in accounting or taxation. * Experience with Deltek Costpoint. * Experience with government bid review. * Familiarity with Alaska Native Corporations and knowledge of the 1971 Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. * Familiarity with taxation of Alaska Native Settlement Trusts (IRC Sec. 247). * Familiarity with tax benefits/implications of 831(b) Microcaptive insurance arrangements. * 2+ years of management experience.
