Department Summary

Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Development organization is building the country’s first cloud-native, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of today and the future.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

As a Staff Systems Engineer at DISH, you will serve as the 5G Wireless end-to-end service Measurement KPI Expert. In this role, you will interpret network performance metrics and correlate them with customer experience, driving enhancements in 5G service performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and monitor E2E and Core/IMS KPIs for end-user experience, service performance, core network health, capacity, and efficiency; develop and maintain real-time KPI dashboards

Provide end-to-end troubleshooting for 5G E2E networks, diagnosing issues across network components (AMF, SMF, UPF, IMS, etc.) with a focus on cloud-based ORAN and E2E signaling protocols analysis

Collaborate with Core engineering, RAN, transport, and IT teams to drive performance and customer experience enhancements, propose tuning actions, and architectural changes, and drive vendor fixes

Engage in Big Data Analytics using Python, R, and Tableau to leverage AI/ML for operational modeling, anomaly detection, task automation, and efficient network performance monitoring

Support benchmarking efforts to compare DISH Wireless network performance with contenders, evaluate QoS parameters, and develop recommendations to improve customer experience

Proactively identify areas for improvement in Core/IMS performance and provide root cause analysis (RCA)

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline

8+ years of experience in mobile networks with deep knowledge of 5G/4G technologies, including VoNR/VoLTE

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong understanding of 5G/4G Core, IMS standards, features, and protocols

Proficiency in Core Network performance management and optimization

Deep understanding of data and VoIP network architecture, infrastructure, and traffic engineering

Comprehensive knowledge of E2E call flows for voice and data calls

Proven track record of improving Core network performance, with awareness of the latest telecom standards (TMF, ETSI, 3GPP) and proficiency in open-source cloud-native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)

Strong programming and data analytics skills, with transport network experience as a plus

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $100,100.00/Year - $170,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
