For more information, please visit our website at www.opportune.com.Position SummaryOpportune is seeking a Tax Manager to assist the Tax practice grow its tax compliance and financial reporting advisory practice. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for engagement delivery in all areas of federal and state income tax including mergers and acquisitions, transactional tax services, capital markets events, restructurings, and public entity reporting.Job Duties:Preparing/reviewing federal and state corporate and partnership income and franchise tax returnsPreparing/reviewing quarterly and yearend tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740Advising clients on tax planning strategies including research and writing memoranda providing analysis and conclusionsMentoring other tax professionalsGrowing the firms Tax PracticeWillingness to travel (may or may not be required)Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters degree is preferredCPA license is required4 or more years of relevant experience at a large corporate tax department or at a large public accounting firmStrong knowledge of corporate and partnership tax rulesStrong commitment to client service and the energy industryHighly motivated, self-starting individual with a goal-oriented personalityExcellent project management skillsExperience working with MS Office, Gosystems or OneSource, and research platforms such as BNA or CheckpointLocation:Downtown Houston in the Pennzoil BuildingCompensation & Benefits:Competitive compensation based on experience, health, dental, life, and disability insurance, subsidized parking, a 401(k) plan, hybrid schedule, and an annual performance bonus.
