The Head of Sponsorship and Partnership Management will lead the development, management, and execution of a comprehensive sponsorship and partnership strategy for Citi. This role will focus on identifying, securing, and managing a high-value portfolio of sponsorships and partnerships that align with Citi’s brand, values, and business objectives. They will also be responsible for the effective activation of the portfolio to maximize return on investment, enhance brand visibility, and drive customer engagement across key markets in support of acquisition and loyalty goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sponsorship and Partnership Strategy - Develop and lead the execution of a global sponsorship and partnership strategy, aligning with Citi’s business goals and brand positioning. Identify high-impact sponsorship and partnerships opportunities across genres that align with and amplify the impact of our business marketing strategies.
Develop the Sponsorship and Partnership Portfolio - Lead negotiations and secure strategic deals with relevant properties across major global markets. Manage partnerships with key stakeholders, including rights holders, agencies, event organizers, and internal teams. Build and nurture long-term relationships with sponsorship partners, maintaining Citi’s reputation as a premium sponsor/partner.
Sponsorship Activation & Execution – In partnership with Business Marketing, develop impactful activation plans that can be executed both in-person and at scale, in support of business and brand goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to deliver integrated activation programs. Oversee on-site and virtual activation at events, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with brand guidelines.
Manage Tickets - Manage the significant inventory of global client hospitality and events tickets to ensure the delivery of excellent ‘money can’t buy’ client experiences, tiered experiences for different client segments, and employee incentive and recognition programs. Ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures at all times.
Performance Management – Define clear strategies, set specific goals and KPIs, and monitor performance to evaluate the impact of sponsorships and partnerships on commercial and brand outcomes. Provide regular performance reports to the Chief Marketing & Content Officer and key senior stakeholders highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Team Leadership & Development – Establish, lead, and develop a high-performing sponsorship and partnership team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build strong working relationships and facilitate successful project outcomes. Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including agencies, media, and industry organizations.
Budgeting & Financial Management - Develop and manage the sponsorship and partnership budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and monitoring of expenses to achieve financial targets.
Change Management – Act as an evangelist for the marketing and content organization change agenda and motivate change by inspiring the marketing team and partners across the organization with breakthrough business and marketing thought leadership.
Operational Excellence - Drive continuous improvement across all aspects of sponsorship and partnership marketing ensuring the highest levels of effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications
15 years of experience in sponsorship management, partnership marketing, or brand activation, in a global organization.
Knowledge of the financial services industry is preferred.
Proven track record of negotiating and managing high-profile sponsorship deals.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to measure and optimize sponsorship performance.
Education
Bachelor's degree/university degree or equivalent.
Master's degree preferred.
