Description
This role of System Administrator Infrastructure is to maintain the server and storage environment by identifying system requirements, provisioning new systems, installing upgrades, managing hardware, software maintenance and licensing. The System Infrastructure team is responsible for all physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage arrays, and backups across all Paycom datacenters. As a System Administrator you will collaborate with the team in the architecture, configuration, and maintenance of all system infrastructure projects, tools and processes, as well as participate in troubleshooting, remediation, and documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in the architecture design and determining system requirements for all new server and storage requestsConfigure Windows and Linux operating systems on virtual and physical serversWork support tickets assigned to the System Infrastructure teamMonitor system performance and logs and provide reports for managements awareness into the technical health of Paycoms infrastructureCapacity planning and forecastingDevelop team documentation for day to day duties and gained team knowledgeKeep systems properly configured, updated, healthy, hardened and scaled to meet the needs of the businessWork with various technology teams to pro-actively evaluate DR plans, backup requirements, and failover proceduresCommunicate with vendors to ensure we are properly licensed and up to date on renewalsBe responsible for and act as subject matter expert on any assigned systemsQualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degreeExperience:
3+ years of professional IT experience3+ years supporting servers and/or storage systemsSkills/Abilities:
Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vCenter/ESXiWorking knowledge of Windows or Linux Server operating systemsFamiliar with backup and recovery softwareIn depth knowledge and experience of web application architecture and technologiesKnowledge of blade server hardware, such as UCSKnowledge of enterprise storage systems and protocols (SMB/CIFS/NFS/iSCSI)Powershell or similar command line tools used to manage and automateUsing a log aggregation tool, such as Splunk, for troubleshooting and reportingData retention and capacity planningPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science, or related fieldsMTA/MCSERHCA/Linux+Experience:
System administration experience in med-large private datacenter environmentsProven track record of building and maintaining highly available system architectureHigh availability and disaster recovery planning and design.Linux administrationSkills/Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of Networking/Firewall componentsMulti-node system (HA) architecture planning and designLoad-balancing concepts and deploymentsScripting languages
