Schneider Downs has a long history of advising automobile dealers across the country on tax advisory matters. Over the course of our 65+ year history, we have had the opportunity to consult in nearly every segment of the dealership business - maximizing cash flows, cost containment, inventory control, reinsurance, financing, or capitalization and more. Our Automotive Services industry group is composed of tax consulting professionals who are specifically trained and experienced in matters such as those facing our clients.

As a

Tax Manager - Automotive , you will provide tax consulting and compliance services, as well as oversee all aspects of the tax planning, preparation and review process for tax engagements. In this role, you will have an understanding of automotive operations including by department and back office of the dealership. Internally, you will manage engagement economics and provide technical and leadership development to the tax team.

Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagementsManage engagement workflow, engagement team resources and engagement billingWork as part of a coordinated client service team approach, working with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight to clients in a variety of industriesReview engagement profitability and prepare and analyze monthly billing for assigned engagementsReview tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunitiesResearch and analyze a wide range of tax issues and tax implicationsDemonstrate strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting and tax softwareProvide leadership, counseling and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement teamRepresent firm and build relationships by attending fundraisers, meetings with prospects/bankers, charitable events, professional organizations, etc.Work as a team on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development and technological advancesStay informed of current and proposed tax legislation, communicating potential impacts to clients and assist with planningWHAT YOU'LL NEED

CPA, J.D., LL.M or Masters in TaxationMinimum of five years of public accounting experience in tax is requiredAbility to develop business and foster client relationshipsStrong leadership, training and mentoring skillsExcellent writing, communication and tax research skills
