Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Core Financials Solution Architect to provide expertise and guidance in supporting the Accounting and Financial Operations departments. This individual must have strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to partner with the Business to have effective discussions to drive process and systems change to meet Business goals.The DE must have the ability to provide leadership and coaching to business teams and technologists by guiding, planning, and partnering at various levels. The DE will partner with the engineering teams in the establishment and implementation of new or revised systems and programs.The Core Financials Solution Architect is required to have extensive Financial Systems expertise and a broad background in ERP and Finance Operations technologies. The position will report to the Senior Director of Finance Technologies. The individual contributor is expected to provide systems solutions, functional process recommendations, and work with multiple Finance and Technology leaders to set the systems strategy for the company’s Core Financials applications (i.e. GL, AP, PO, FA, AR, Expenses, etc.).The individual will be a key advisor and partner to the Finance Leadership to redesign the way they use their technologies in managing GEICO’s business. The Core Financials Specialist is also accountable to support the delivery of technology solutions that will support GL processing, financial reporting, procurement and payables related processing and supporting functions, cash transactional processes, and other Core Financials functions.Prior Financial Services Industry experience is required, with a deep understanding of the functional and technical aspects of multiple ERP and Purchasing systems.Position Responsibilities
As the Core Financials Solutions Architect supporting these Finance functions you will:Leverage your deep Functional and Technical systems expertise to drive towards the right solution to support the department and GEICO’s current and future needsEngage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycleLead design sessions with peers to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet Business expectationsCollaborate with the Finance Leaders for the Controllers, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Cost Management, Finance QA & Systems, and Technology Cost Management departments to ensure their organizational technology goals are metHave a deep understanding of these multi-entity department functions to establish a vision and technology roadmap for the Core Financials functionsWork with Business Sponsors to develop project roadmaps which align to business objectives and sequenced by priority and resource availabilityManage through influence customers and stakeholders, and properly manage divergent expectationsEnsure a strong control and governance framework is established and maintained to support SOX and Audit reviewsFacilitate Business and Technology discussions at various leadership levels to ensure alignment towards long term goals of Finance and TechnologyAnalyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specificationsConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsQualifications
25+ years of Finance Systems experience with industry leading ERP solutions (e.g. implementing and supporting PeopleSoft; Oracle EBS; Oracle Cloud; Workday; or SAP)15+ years of management or lead experience in guiding teams in support of Finance Systems5+ years managing Core Financials or other Finance systems teams that managed some of the following system types: GL, AP, PO, FA, AR, Expenses, etc., or various Financial Reporting tools15+ years working with Core Financials systems (GL, AP, PO, FA, AR, Expenses) via the major vendors (e.g. PeopleSoft; Oracle EBS; Oracle Cloud; Workday; or SAP)Deep Finance domain expertise to be able to work with senior Finance leaders to interpret their process and functional needs into system solutionsStrong understanding of Accounting process and reporting expectations to partner with senior Finance LeadersAbility to communicate and work directly with business leaders across Technology and FinanceSolid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practicesStrong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to excel in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge and experience with the software development life cycleAbility to work independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environmentEducation
