Division Human Resources Director

to work as a strategic partner to the Executive Vice President – Operations and provide senior leadership to the HR function for manufacturing facilities in New England, Illinois, Arizona, Canada, and Mexico. There will be a primary focus on fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring we are attracting, developing, and retaining the right talent and providing a supportive and engaging employee experience.

This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources and can be located in either Massachusetts or Connecticut with a hybrid schedule of on-site presence at a Pursuit facility when not on business travel.

We’re looking for an HR leader who believes in servant leadership, investing in people, creating processes, and always pursuing better through continuous improvement.

In this HR Director role:

You’ll serve as a trusted partner to the Executive Vice President and other leaders on a variety of HR and business-related issues, both strategic and operational, to achieve desired financial results for the company while driving an aligned talent and people strategy.

You’ll teach, manage, coach, and support a high-performing site HR team through tactical and strategic objectives and challenges; often by working in a hands-on manner with the HR teams on the ground at the manufacturing sites.

You’ll ensure your sites are operating compliantly with regards to labor law and best practices.

You’ll collaborate to establish well-performing HR practices that meet key performance indicators, particularly in the areas of talent acquisition/pipelines, employee engagement, and retention.

You’ll seek to build deep and collaborative relationships with a service mindset around supporting the Executive Vice President and their staff, including general managers and functional leaders as internal customers.

You’ll drive improvements in division-wide and cross-company talent planning initiatives including workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, engagement, and inclusion.

You’ll create standard work/processes and participate in continuous improvement (kaizen) initiatives across the company.

You’ll continually assess the effectiveness of the organizational structure and lead efforts to realign/refocus as needed.

You’ll provide executive coaching and development to senior leaders.

You’ll drive an effective reward and recognition strategy that reinforces Pursuit culture and values.

You’ll use data to develop and implement measurement systems to determine the impact of HR programs.

You’ll provide coaching and consultation on employee relations issues.

You’ll support acquisition due diligence and integration efforts.

You’ll work closely with the site HR teams to monitor the pulse of our employees to ensure a high level of engagement.

Qualifications:

BS/BA degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Manager, or a minimum of 6 years’ experience with a Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field or an MBA.

At least 2 years of HR experience leading multi-site HR operations with a team of 3+ direct reports.

This role requires up to ~40% travel including international travel.

Preferred Additional Skills/Experience:

Master’s degree in Human resources or another related field.

4+ years of HR experience leading multi-site HR operations with a team of 3+ direct reports.

Gritty and resourceful, with a strong capability to navigate ambiguity and operate in gray areas, shift priorities as business needs change, and drive results.

Resilient under pressure, able to navigate challenges in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.

Demonstrable experience using data for HR Metrics and subsequent action planning; including Microsoft Excel proficiency; knowledge of HR systems and databases.

Demonstrable previous experience in multisite HR leadership role, ideally in an industrial setting, working in a hands-on manner to operate as a player/coach, effectively managing and supporting teams while also actively contributing to daily HR operations and developing HR professionals to build skills and improve outcomes.

Demonstrable previous experience supporting a P&L leader with multi-site responsibility.

Demonstrable previous experience with talent initiatives, performance management, leadership development, and employee engagement.

Demonstrable previous experience evaluating talent for fit and taking action to make changes where change is needed.

Expertise in HR compliance to include US employment laws, legal requirements of hiring practices and affirmative action plans, wage and hour laws, leave laws, and discrimination, harassment and retaliation laws; and an ability to navigate an immature policy/procedure landscape to balance process with the need for flexibility in a developing business environment.

Expertise in project management; time and organization skills, stakeholder management.

Competency in program/process/policy creation.

Successful at communicating to multiple levels of the organization; ability to influence and partner with senior leaders.

Ability to think critically and evidence of translating business strategies into actionable HR plans.

Proven experience in driving and managing change initiatives across complex, matrixed organizations.

Demonstrable ability to lead during times of growth and transformation.

Exhibits empathy and a deep understanding of employee needs while maintaining business alignment.

Leadership courage and the ability to question the ‘status quo,’ drive innovation and possess a strong level of accountability.

Experience with acquisition due diligence and acquisition integration.

Experience with Kaizen and other Lean manufacturing techniques.
