SUMMARY

The Tax Manager will be responsible for fostering relationships across various areas of the Company.This position will work directly with the Controller's organization to generate necessary documentation for the preparation of tax returns including estimated taxes, state apportionment and other schedules as needed.The position will work collaboratively with cross functional teams to develop tools and processes to efficiently manage compliance costs, cash taxes and general and administrative spend.The primary compliance functions will include interaction with third party operators to review and discuss tax matters related to required tax filings and payments as well as managing third party service providers in the areas of partnership, REIT and taxable REIT subsidiary taxation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage large volume of tax compliance matters including providing workpaper support and review of third party and internally prepared returnsPreparation or review of journal entries related to tax refunds and payments, computations for third party distribution equalization paymentsAnalysis and review of business unit builds for ERP system as they relate to tax methodsReview of tax consolidation methods for monthly legal structure changesResearch, as needed, on technical tax matters and file documentation to support tax positionsKey role in trial balance automation and import (for every legal federal entity and federal pro forma)Liaison to Legal team and Accounting for legal entity matters related to registrations, withdrawals, dissolutions, legal entity reporting structures, election follow up and other matters as neededPrimary contact with operating partners to discuss tax matters including income allocations and supporting schedules for tax filings, payments and other itemsRespond in a timely manor to all tax notices and support tax positions as needed with taxing jurisdictionsOTHER DUTIES

TRAVEL

Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 6 + years of tax experience in a CPA firm or in a corporate tax department is required.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.CPA preferred but not required.

Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
