Responsibilities
Friends Hospital
is the nation's oldest private psychiatric hospital, located on a beautiful 100-acre campus in Philadelphia, PA. Friends Hospital offers a continuum of care including level of care assessments; specially designed inpatient units for adolescents, adults, and older adults; and a private residential rehabilitation program. Friends Hospital is easily accessed via public transportation and has free, safe, on-site parking.
As directed by the Director of the Crisis Response Center and Referral Manager, the Call/Referral Specialist coordinates admission functions, provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, completes preliminary insurance verification/ pre-certification completes all required computer data entry, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Qualifications
Education / Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years' experience working in an intake, admissions or crisis intervention department along with at least three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, along with direct experience in call management and customer relations.
A Bachelor's degree in a mental health related field required,
master's degree preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of all credentialing requirements including but not limited to education and credentialing within 30 days from date of hire. CPR/AED certification and successful completion of Handle with Care (HWC) required. The Call/Referral Specialist must possess good verbal and written communication skills. They may be asked to work overtime and have flexible hours.
