Tax Manager - Corporate | Summit Healthcare Mgmt | Franklin, TennesseeAbout the Job:The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for managing the entire tax function, including income tax accounting, direct and indirect tax return preparation ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. The corporate tax manager will work in close collaboration with all functions of the business and will play an important role in tax planning, managing audits, and minimizing tax liabilities. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in both corporate and partnership tax preparation, financial reporting, and excellent analytical skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Calculate and present the quarterly/annual income tax provision and effective tax rate calculations ensuring adherence to GAAP accounting principles under ASC 740. Communicate income tax impacts to Finance Leadership and other stakeholders during financial close periods.Manage and/or review the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns, tax estimates and extensions, and all supporting calculations and documentation including uncertain tax positions. Ensure proper tax treatment of transactions and all necessary payments are remitted accurately and timely.Serve as the primary tax liaison with external auditors and other external tax advisors.Oversee the tax related activities of independent auditors and ensure that all information requests are prepared timely and accurately. Manage the relationship and coordinate with external tax consultants when utilized.Maintain a tax calendar of required tax filings to help manage filing deadlines.Manage all tax controversy matters including audits and notice resolution.Monitor, analyze, and implement changes in tax laws and regulations to assess the impact on the business and ensure ongoing compliance. Communicate impacts to Finance Leadership and other stakeholders.Manage information reporting and filings of non-income tax compliance including property tax, gross receipts and similar taxes, and sales and use tax.Assist with internal control narratives and processes in line with SOX 404.Serve as tax liaison to Corporate Development and Legal teams providing support for all aspects of M&A tax activity including due diligence, transaction document review, and integration of tax functions for acquired businesses.Assist Finance Leadership with the budget and forecasting of the corporate tax function including cash taxes, non-income taxes, and external service providers.Serve as support to the operating entities on tax inquiries relative to their operations.Other duties as assigned.Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.Active CPA license preferred.At least 5 years of relevant tax experience. Healthcare and multi-entity experience preferred.Experience with multi-jurisdictional corporate and partnership income tax compliance and possess strong ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes skills.Strong knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and related Regulations.Excellent analytical, technological, organizational, and communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products.
