The Clean Energy Systems (CES) Division is growing rapidly and moving forward in production scaling of our residential energy solutions. We are looking for a skilled Sr. Commodity Manager in the Contract Manufacturing discipline to help in developing the supply chain to manage the increase in volume and production via the introduction of new contract manufacturers. You will be key in sourcing and developing qualified and cost-effective contract manufacturers to support our growth.
This is a remote position that reports into the Director of Strategic Sourcing and New Product Development.
Responsibilities
Lead commodity strategy for systems with an emphasis on both electronic and mechanical components within the contract manufacturing environment.
Work collaboratively with internal teams on sourcing strategy, market analysis and conducting trade-off analysis reviews and supplier roadmaps with engineers.
Evaluate, assess, develop, and manage supply base to enable prototype deployment from new product development, introduction to scalable production for electro-mechanical systems.
Provide insights on industry best in class technology and manufacturing options with optimized supply chain set-up for total cost ownership.
Negotiate and source alternative suppliers for electronic components purchases and miscellaneous mechanical requirements as needed.
Analyze supplier spend, capacity and develop overall supplier negotiation and engagement strategies.
Develop and align commodity strategies with custom silicon & EE commodity, mechanical commodity, printed circuited boards team, and manage relationships with internal and external manufacturer and distribution partners.
Be the “go to” resource for Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and New Product Introduction teams when determining best value suppliers, NPI sourcing plans, make vs. buy, should cost, buy complete strategies, and lead times, etc.
Build crossed functional teams and champion continuous improvement initiatives for cost, quality, and delivery.
Champion value-add and value engineering projects to improve part quality and reduce cost.
Administer moderate to large contracts and independently negotiate with supplier’s contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope, and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, and intellectual property.
Interpret the conditions and terms of contracts including fiscal and legal implications and advise management on all significant procedures and regulations affecting the contract.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and government regulations.
Function as liaison with external and internal customers on all matters affecting contractual agreements.
Monitor and manage costs to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts.
Foster, manage, maintain supplier partnerships, and lead business review meetings to drive high performance.
Drive design for manufacturability reviews with support from Supplier Development and Engineering.
Negotiate and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers.
Mitigate sole source risk positions and ensure continuity of supply.
Proactively update management and engineering teams on all critical supply issues.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Visit supplier’s facilities and accurately assess technical capability, equipment, and capacity.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Operations.
10+ years managing and sourcing global suppliers in an OEM business with proven success in locating and developing suppliers and contract manufacturers with world class capabilities.

Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
