Description
Responsible for operating assigned vehicle according to schedule to transport clients to various appointments. Responsible for the safety and well-being of his or her passengers for the duration of the transport.
Operate vehicle according to assigned schedule to provide safe and reliable transportation.Drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times. Comply with all traffic regulations.Responsible for activating and deactivating the child safety alarm system.Assist wheelchair and mobility limited passengers in and out of the pickup/drop-off points and as they enter or exit the vehicle, including assistance with seating, securing seat belt, securing wheelchairs and other assistive devices.Report any witnessed or reported abuse of passengers to the Transportation Manager.Enforce all laws, including but not limited to, ensuring all passengers wear their seat belts at all times.Project a professional image and attitude at all times.Communicate with Dispatchers or other Drivers to report disruption of service, delays or accidents.Ensure clients deposit money in the fare box.Responsible for cleanliness of vehicle, as well as inspecting and reporting any vehicle damage or malfunction on a daily basis.Maintain records of trips and behavior of passengers.Identify self and announce presence at the entrance of the building at the specified pick-up location if the passenger is not waiting curbside.Regulate heating, lighting and ventilation system for passenger comfort.Attend educational workshops and classes.Area Agency on Aging of Western Arkansas, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
Requirements
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.Must be at least 25 years old.Must possess a valid driver's license.Certified in CPR/First Aid.Must submit to and successfully pass a criminal background screen, adult and child maltreatment screen, pre-employment DOT drug screen and pre-employment DOT physical.Must not have any combination of two moving violations or accidents on the motor vehicle report.Experience in driving or working with elderly or disabled is preferred.Strong communication skills.
