Full Time Position
2:30pm -11pm
Sterile Processing Lead Technician is responsible for performing effective and efficient decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of patient equipment, surgical instruments, and medical supplies, in support of all hospital and clinical areas. Working under the guidance of supervisor or manager, will utilize knowledge and skills to work independently in all job functions. In addition to technician duties the Lead Tech will perform other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager. Oversees department operation in the absence of the supervisor. Conducts in-service education programs for staff members as necessary and on a routine basis, functions as a mentor to department staff members.
Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Pass and maintain Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) within 6 months of date of hire or transfer into position.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
One or more years of Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM).
Required Experience:
1-2 years of Sterile Processing or equivalent OR experience.
Preferred Experience:
3-5 years of Level 1 Trauma Center SPD or equivalent OR experience.
Necessary Skills:
1. Knowledge in all aspects of supply/equipment processing, including surgical instrumentation.
2. Must possess manual dexterity, computer skills, and be able to work under pressure.
3. Knowledge in the use of autoclave, steris, washer/disinfection, sterrad, etc.
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Must be able to read, spell and do simple math, write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.
6. Able to work closely with others in positive ways.
7. Be Proficient with functions in a SPD environment.
8. Be Proficient at critical thinking in a SPD environment
9. Be Proficient with technical skills in a SPD environment.
10. Ability to follow up with other employees in an effective manner regarding tasks and needed assignments.
