THI is seeking a highly skilled Data Operations Manager responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and management of an ophthalmic imaging data lake. This individual contributor role will lead the collection, storage, and access of ophthalmic imaging data, providing essential support to researchers, clinicians, and other data users and stewards. This role will play a key role in maintaining data quality, security, and compliance within the healthcare compliance and privacy regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection and management:
Design and implement data procedures tailored to collect and ingest ophthalmic imaging data from various sources (imaging devices, clinical systems, research studies).Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and adherence to relevant ophthalmic imaging standards (DICOM, etc.).Implement and manage the ophthalmic imaging data lake, ensuring secure and compliant storage of large volumes of image data.Develop data cataloging and metadata management practices specific to ophthalmic imaging data to enhance discoverability and research potential.Design and implement data lake monitoring visualizations using relevant metrics.Implement data quality monitoring and improvement initiatives tailored to ophthalmic imaging data.Ensure all data handling practices adhere to healthcare data privacy and security regulations, with particular attention to the sensitivity of patient eye health information.Data Access and Support:
Collaborate with Data Access and Governance committee members to ensure the implementation of approved data access and governance policies and procedures.Establish and manage user access controls to ensure data is only available to authorized individuals and entities, adhering to security and privacy regulations.Provide technical support to data users, troubleshooting data access issues and assisting with data retrieval and analysis queries.Collaboration:
Work closely with ophthalmologists, clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide appropriate access to ophthalmic imaging data.Collaborate with external data stewards and other external and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless data collection and ingestion to the ophthalmic imaging data lake
Qualifications:
BSc or MSc in Life Sciences, Computer or Data Science, information technology or related field7 years' experience in clinical data operations, or a similar role, preferably with exposure to medical devices clinical studies, medical imaging or healthcare data.Experience with ophthalmic imaging (OCT, fundus) research or clinical applications is a significant plus.Proven track record of managing data lakes or similar large-scale data storage solutions. Strong project management skills.Strong knowledge of data management principles, data security, and healthcare data compliance regulations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with ophthalmologists, researchers, and other stakeholders.Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, set priorities, handle multiple tasks and projects with a high degree of efficiency and comfort with ambiguity.Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL. Familiarity with Imaging standards like DICOM.Experience with cloud computing applications (such as AWS or Azure)A passion for leveraging data to improve patient care and drive innovation.
Base Pay:
Expected Base Pay Range: $110,000 to $150,000 Annualized
The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed. Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
Bonus eligible:
In addition to base pay, compensation for this position includes eligibility for a 5% annual bonus.
