PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Perform routine blood draws, provide assistance for lab procedures and route labs as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works independently, in a safe and appropriate manner in accordance with safety and organizational policies and proceduresAssists with supply inventoryMay instruct phlebotomy procedure to new employeesUnderstands and abides by all of the BSFHC infection control guidelines and safety procedures; know location and use of MSDS material and use of emergency equipmentMay require other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Current national certification (required for WA, CAand LA) in Phlebotomy from a Premise Health approved organization OR Certificate/Diploma and Transcripts from an accredited Phlebotomy program with hands on externship completed and passed- total online courses are not acceptable.CPR (BLS for community/lay responder or Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer - the copy must include the front and back of card as applicable) Certification must include "hands on" evaluation of skills by the trainer/instructor. Total on-line courses will not be accepted. Course must also meet the American Heart Association (AHA) standards but need not be an AHA certificate.State Phlebotomy Tech Certification (CA, WA and LA)
Experience:
At least 3 years phlebotomy experience in a healthcare environmentSatisfactory completion of an approved phlebotomy course and completion of 100 hours clinical experiencePediatric phlebotomy experience required
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations preferred.Demonstrates problem solving prevention skills equal to the expected level of responsibility for the jobKnowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred.
