10+ years of professional experience in energy, sustainability, or comparable fields

The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

This leader will own the long-term strategy for our energy team, ensuring that AWS can scale sustainably. The right candidate’s team will be responsible for developing Amazon’s path to 100% carbon free energy, while continuing to enable Amazon’s 100% renewable program, providing high reliability energy infrastructure capacity in support of AWS data center operations and optimizing for cost effective and innovative power delivery solutions.
This is a leader of leaders’ role and the candidate will develop and grow an organization of customer-obsessed Energy professionals to deliver on that mission. They will work collaboratively with infrastructure regional teams and finance, public policy, and legal teams to advocate and execute programs that drive innovation in the energy space in support of AWS data center infrastructure.
The right candidate is an energy, utilities and/or data center infrastructure subject matter expert with exceptionally high judgement and a proven track record of success in the space. They will represent AWS Infrastructure internally as well as to external groups including energy business partners and policy makers. They will be responsible for providing strategic vision for AWS Energy through project delivery, developing scalable mechanisms and metrics, and providing visibility to a variety of internal stakeholders. The optimal candidate will have a results-orientated approach, strong analytical skill set, financial acumen, and proven ability to manage teams through multiple complex projects.
Experience with development and execution of large scale global/regional energy strategies
Experience with power trading, utility systems, carbon management or sustainability science.
Track record of identifying and executing on innovative renewable generation projects
Experience managing energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost savings and sustainability goals
Experience working with utility regulators and governments to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader companywide strategies and objectives

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $232,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $345,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
