Job Description

The Associate General Counsel is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. The Associate General Counsel provides senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manages the legal function, obtains and oversees the work of outside counsel. The Associate General Counsel is directly involved in labor and employment law disputes, customer contract review, real estate contract review, and complex business transactions. Qualifications

J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the California Bar required.7+ years' of significant corporate transactional experience, preferably with a national law firm or in-house company, including experience drafting and negotiating contracts, real estate transactions, and employment law.

Essential Functions

Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs. Ensures the company receives continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications for company matters.Perform legal research and provide general support to organization to various departments, such as but not limited to HR related matters, customer contract interpretation/implementation, inter-company agreements and corporate matters.Works in key areas of the business, assist with reviewing/drafting/amending a range of commercial/business contracts (customers, suppliers and services providers).Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts, specifically manufacturing/sales, procurement, and IT service agreements.Manage a variety of side projects and topics, as needed by the organization.Knowledge of California labor and employment law.Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with privacy requirements.Concurrently works on multiple legal issues and projects for various parts of the organization.Stay updated on regulatory developments within and outside the company, as well as best practices in compliance control.Other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications

SCHEDULE: Mandatory for this role to be working onsite at the Association Services & Leadership Office - Monday through Friday.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must have reliable transportation to travel to the Association Services & Leadership Office.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications.CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
