Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range : $118,200.00 - $195,000.00

What Is the Opportunity?
As a member of the Workers' Compensation Product management team, this position is responsible for leading a team of advanced claim, Medicare Set Aside, and nurse specialists to guide, implement and deliver industry leading best practices for the most serious and complex workers' compensation claims. Drives performance of a Workers Compensation severity claim team, field claim offices, and vendors handling serious and complex claims to include excellent claim file quality, reserve adequacy, and results.
What Will You Do?
CLAIM HANDLING:
Oversee the handling (management) of the Company's most severe and/or highly complex claims with exposure greater than $1M or $500K for Construction claims.
Develop, implement and monitor Major Case policies, procedures, practices and standards for the handling of claims by professionals within the Home Office and Field organizations.
Leads and collaborates in large loss forums that discuss case management decisions to achieve optimal outcomes.
Provide superior customer service.
Conduct best practice file reviews. Adheres and manages to company quality, regulatory, and compliance guidelines.
Manage reserves in a timely, fact-based, and appropriate approach to consistently reflect company reserve policies.
LEADERSHIP:
Lead, manage and motivate the organization toward improved quality and higher standards.
Provide technical assistance to Claim University to identify, develop and present training and strategic approaches that will optimize the effectiveness of field claim handling.
Develops, assists, and delivers training.
Effective identification, selection, orientation, on-boarding and retention of staff.
Proactive recruitment of talent; work with management to establish and implement a strategic staffing strategy.
Manage staff performance; implement strategies and plans to address staff development; identify and address training needs on an ongoing basis; provide frequent performance feedback.
Effective retention planning; proactively manage and respond to turnover.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT:
Develop and implement process improvement strategies that impact indemnity, medical, and expense management, investigations, subrogation, structured settlements, medical case and litigation management.
Oversee the development and employment of creative resolution strategies for complex files effectively utilizing all appropriate resources.
Collaborate and partner with parties to develop and execute a strategic file management plan that achieves optimal file resolution and business results.
Develops, designs, documents and recommends multiple solutions and leads initiative implementation to improve countrywide results.
Review and analyze data and information to determine trends and opportunities for improved service delivery. Leads projects and project teams to design innovative solutions to business and claim challenges.
Evaluates operating environment, vendors, workflow processes, and support services, and influences direction for assigned line of business programs and products.
Employ proper claim handling techniques to protect the integrity of our brand and providing consistent service quality and streamlined processes to add value for our customers.
Work with Workers Compensation teams to develop, understand and implement national strategies and provide input on new strategies.
Successfully leverage data, management information and technology to identify and make the most of opportunities to support business strategies and improve results.
COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCE:
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with the field offices, business, and other partners and customers.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies and others to achieve organizational goals and create better outcomes.
Promote the WC Product Line, Business Plan and initiatives.
Actively and enthusiastically share experience and knowledge of creative resolution techniques to improve claim results of others.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
College degree or equivalent business experience.
Skilled in coverage, liability and damages analysis and has a thorough understanding of the litigation process, relevant case and statutory law and expert litigation management skills.
Current on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
Extensive claim and/or legal experience and/or medical case management experience and thus the technical expertise to evaluate severe and complex claims.
Thorough understanding of commercial lines products, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, and effective claims handling practices.

Previous Leadership experience preferred.
Skilled in coverage, compensability and exposure analysis with strong medical and claim knowledge and has a thorough understanding of the litigation process, relevant case and statutory law and expert litigation management skills.

Deep familiarity with effective claims handling practices
Expert written and verbal communication skills are required so as to understand, synthesize, interpret and convey, in a simplified manner, complex data and information to audiences varying in levels of expertise.

Demonstrated history of strong mentoring relationships and influence management skills throughout an organization.
What is a Must Have?
High school diploma or GED required. 10 years claim handling or catastrophic medical case management experience with 7 years claim handling or medical case management experience with 3 – 5 years experience handling serious injury and complex workers compensation claims.
In order to perform the essential job functions of this job, acquisition and maintenance of Insurance or Nurse License(s) may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements. Generally, license(s) are required to be obtained within three months of starting the job.
