Bureau Chief . As an exceptional communicator and collaborative leader, you will inspire and guide our team of correspondents, producers, and photographers to elevate multiplatform content on both local and national stages. You have an in-depth knowledge of politics and the political process, ideally with familiarity in the DC landscape, and are able to translate politics into fact-based, impactful, and engaging stories that resonate within our communities. You thrive on breaking news, whether political or not, valuing the urgency of delivering news both on-air and across digital platforms. Your knowledge extends to emerging technologies, recognizing their potential to enhance newsroom efficiency and creativity in storytelling and production.As the Washington News Bureau Chief, you will work closely with news teams from all 27 Hearst Television newsrooms, our National Digital Team, and other Hearst media divisions. In this high-profile role, you will lead comprehensive political coverage, identify and communicate local and digital perspectives on national stories, and evaluate and adjust coverage based on regular, constructive feedback.Responsibilities:Manage personnel and operational budgets.Orchestrate logistics for conventions, inaugurations, and other significant coverage events.Foster relationships with key government and media contacts in Washington.Demonstrate strong news judgment and uphold the highest ethical standards.Cultivate a supportive team environment and measure success through the achievements of your team.Develop new strategies for bureau operations and impactful story production.Manage, coach, and support the growth of correspondents, producers, and photographers.Implement a planning and project management system to recognize upcoming political events and produce related enterprise content.Develop logistics and content plans for newsworthy scheduled events and lead group content strategy for coverage of significant national news and weather events.Manage hiring of personnel and assign basic office management duties.Design and lead politically focused training sessions for Hearst Television stations and staff.Represent the Washington News Bureau and/or Hearst Television in media interviews and industry events.Effectively communicate and work seamlessly with all team members and newsroom managers.Qualifications:At least 5 years of senior management experience in a newsroom or news bureau preferred.Experience as a team leader who can foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and organize multiple projects.Salary Statement:The estimated salary range for this role is $180,000 - $210,000.
