Frequently supervises professional teams working on legal matters. Work generally involves handling matters of very substantial importance.PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESWork collaboratively with company business partners in providing legal advice and guidance on nuclear regulatory compliance matters.Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable nuclear regulations and standards.Manage and oversee regulatory filings and submissions to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other relevant agencies.Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies, including responding to inquiries, participating in regulatory proceedings, and handling the company’s defense in investigations by NRC and DOL.Develop and implement compliance programs and policies related to nuclear regulatory requirements.Support company business units by providing legal counsel on regulatory implications of new nuclear project development.Monitor changes in nuclear regulations and assess their impact on the company's operations. Work collaboratively with industry counterparts and associations on development of generic regulatory solutions.Collaborate with other departments, including operations, safety, and engineering, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Provide training and education to employees on nuclear regulatory compliance matters.Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel.Projects / duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAn LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.At least 10-12 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and ongoing knowledge of federal and/or state law.Experience working in the nuclear energy industry.Comprehensive familiarity with NRC regulatory processes and procedures.Significant experience in managing NRC regulatory enforcement matters, including representing the company and company employees in NRC and DOL investigations.Knowledge of environmental regulations related to nuclear energy, in particular the National Environmental Policy Act.
