To deliver the cures of tomorrow to the people who need them today.As a Dosimetrist I in Radiation Oncology, the primary responsibilities involve performing CT simulation and treatment planning using 3-dimensional computer-assisted techniques. Under the guidance of a staff physicist, the role includes conducting general patient dosimetry, incorporating hand calculations for external beam therapy, and calculating doses for irregularly shaped fields. Additionally, the Dosimetrist I prepares Total Body Irradiation data for treatment and conducts quality assurance checks on the treatment planning system to ensure accuracy and safety in radiation therapy procedures.As a successful candidate, you will:Independently assess the necessary dosimetry and physics requirements for fulfilling the physician’s prescriptionRecommend treatment strategies to the physicianPerform 2, 3-D, and IMRT treatment planningPerform treatment planning for HDR and interstitial brachytherapyDigitize and import all beam shaping blocks at the completion of the simulation processContour normal tissues according to physician instructionsYour qualifications should include:Bachelor’s degree or Graduate of 12-month Medical Dosimetry program CMD certification with 24 months experience following certification may substitute for minimum education requirementsMDCB or eligible; must achieve MDCB within two yearsCity of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
