Senior Manager, Chief of Staff
We are looking for a Chief of Staff who is passionate about driving growth for Capital One’s associate experience initiatives within Capital One’s Tech organization. The Chief of Staff will report to the Vice President of the Program Delivery organization. They will work side-by-side with leaders within Product, Design, Finance and Human Resources and partner closely with leaders across Capital One. This position requires excellent interpersonal communication and strong leadership skills. Building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization, regardless of level, is essential. Natural agility and flexibility in fast-changing and undefined situations is a must. This person will manage the execution of several high visibility initiatives concurrently. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to strategically plan, communicate across the organization, influence as appropriate, and make decisions quickly and effectively. Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Planning and Forecasting: Includes financial and resource planning and forecasting in collaboration with Product, Finance and Human Resources.
Program Management: Lead teams and drive delivery within large projects across diverse teams and locations to timely completion. Delegate and escalate appropriately to overcome obstacles and communicate program status and team achievements. Instill a fun team environment for successful collaboration and creative problem solving.
Operating Rhythms: Create and manage effective, scalable processes to manage the organizational operating rhythms. Establish operating rituals to ensure ongoing success for the Program Delivery organization such as reviews, metrics/analytics, all hands, off sites, staff meetings, regional updates and visits.
Operational Alignment: Bridge relationships across Capital One business units to increase visibility and improve on efficiencies. Work to align operations, products, financials and PDO goals with Capital One’s strategy. Influence team relationships and results by maneuvering through appropriate formal and informal organization channels.
Communication: Create, drive and maintain communications. Partner with key stakeholders to plan and deliver company and team focused communications to internal audiences.
Job requirements: Ability to manage a large budget and adhere to yearly and monthly reporting requirements.
Must be highly organized and process oriented with attention to detail, but still be able to function at the strategic level to establish context and sound reasoning for data driven decision making.
Must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to “bring order to chaos” when required.
Must be able to manage others through influence to effectively achieve goals.
Strong oral and written communication.
Proven ability to execute on large cross team projects.
Basic qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience.
At least 5 years of Project Management or Program Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree.
6+ years of experience in Project Management or Program Management.
3+ years of experience as a Chief of Staff.
2+ years of experience working closely with executives.
2+ years of experience building strong partnerships with stakeholders across a variety of levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
