Communications Specialist

will provide communications and policy-related support to the Readiness Division, Office of Management Services, Bureau for Management. The Readiness Division is responsible for coordinating the Agency’s operational readiness, to include continuity of operations, emergency management, safety and health functions; domestic and overseas readiness assessments; and tabletop exercises. This position will be heavily involved in the communications for the division, including updating the intranet pages, drafting a variety of briefing and presentation materials, graphic design, policy analysis and drafting, event planning, and liaising with other Agency communications personnel.Responsibilities

Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations for new or modified management policies, regulations, processes, and proceduresDetermine policy compliance with USAID and other federal regulations and provide recommendations on alignmentResearch complex USAID administrative regulations and policySupport the Senior Communications Specialist in the ideation, metrics development, and writing of a communications strategy for M/CCSCo-manage and update the M/CCS Communications trackerDraft key messages for presentations, blogs, newsletters, notices, memoranda, talking points, and website contentWrite, edit, and format products and technical documentsUpdate the M/CCS intranet Content Management System pages (Drupal 9)Input and format content into Agency Notices systemPhotograph and edit imagesDraft presentation packages that include talking points, slides, run of showsAnticipate ongoing and ad-hoc communication needs and provide timely responses to urgent taskersIn-office requirement of 3 days per week; telework 2 days per weekOther duties as assignedQualifications

5+ years of relevant experienceExperience working as an intern, support contractor, government staff, or industry staff is preferredMastery of communication principles, methods, practices, and techniques.Expert oral and written communication skills to clearly present decision points for leadership, prepare formal responses to requests for information and provide advice, information, and guidance to functional personnel thoroughly and professionally.Ability to communicate significant issues to leadership, other offices, coworkers, and the workforce, and the ability to communicate with all levels across the Agency.Familiar with Drupal 9, Google platform, Gov Delivery, Canva, and similar softwareAbility to travel domestically or internationally up to 10% of the timeExperience in and knowledge of USAID communications, operations, and policy is desirable though not required.How you’ll grow
