Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
Using research and writing skills, support the litigation and policy work of the Department by conducting legal and policy research to produce written products that collect and apply research to issues concerning the Department.
Using knowledge of case law, statutes, and of how courts apply law to facts, provide legal advice to managers, executives, and staff on various topics within the Department, including employment and labor law matters.
Monitor litigation involving the Department to coordinate litigation-related information and activities in support of favorable outcomes for the Department.
Complete special projects as assigned by the Deputy General Counsel.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
Current license and in good standing to practice law in Minnesota.
At least five (5) years’ experience as a practicing attorney in the area of employment law, labor law, and/or affirmative action/equal opportunity.
Experience must demonstrate the following:
Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
Building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Providing legal advice to executive leadership on diverse and complex human services and data privacy matters.
Experience in multiple areas of law.
