Position Overview:Axon is seeking an experienced Federal Marketing and Public Affairs Director to lead our marketing and public affairs efforts in the federal sector. This role will focus on driving brand awareness, demand, and strategic communications with key federal stakeholders in both the FedCiv and DoD spaces. You will work closely with our federal sales, government affairs, and product teams to craft messaging that resonates with decision-makers in the federal space, aligning Axon’s solutions with the needs of federal agencies.As the Federal Marketing and Public Affairs Director, you will play a critical role in promoting Axon’s mission of protecting life and innovation across the federal market. Your efforts will directly impact Axon’s growth by creating and executing strategies that position us as a thought leader and trusted partner for federal law enforcement, defense, and other government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Federal Marketing Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy targeting federal agencies, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall federal market objectives.

Public Affairs Leadership : Lead Axon’s federal public affairs initiatives, collaborating with the corp comms and government affairs team to ensure alignment on legislative and policy advocacy, while building Axon’s profile among federal decision-makers.

Demand Generation : Design and implement integrated demand campaigns focused on increasing awareness, generating qualified leads, and supporting the federal sales team.

Content Creation and Messaging : Develop compelling content—including thought leadership pieces, white papers, case studies, and event presentations—that highlights Axon’s solutions for federal agencies.

Stakeholder Engagement : Cultivate and maintain relationships with key federal stakeholders, media, trade organizations, and advocacy groups to elevate Axon’s visibility and thought leadership within the federal sector.

Event Management : In partnership with the events team, guide strategy and planning of federal-focused events, conferences, and roundtables to showcase Axon’s vision and solutions and build relationships with federal agencies and influencers.

Brand Positioning : Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and positioning of Axon across all federal marketing activities.

Collaboration : Work closely with internal teams—sales, product, legal, and government affairs—to align marketing initiatives with the federal government’s needs and procurement cycles.

Market Intelligence : Stay informed on industry trends, policy changes, and federal procurement processes to provide insights that inform marketing strategies and messaging.

What You Bring

10+ years of experience in marketing, public affairs, or communications within the federal government space, ideally with a focus on technology, public safety, defense, or law enforcement.

Strong understanding of the federal government landscape, including decision-making processes, procurement, and key influencers in federal agencies.

Proven experience leading public affairs initiatives, including building relationships with government officials, media, and advocacy groups.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful marketing strategies for federal audiences.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with federal audiences.

Ability to work cross-functionally and lead efforts with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, political science, or a related field.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 145,800 in the lowest geographic market and USD 233,280 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
