Arkansas State University-Beebe (ASUB), a comprehensive, multi-campus two-year community college within the Arkansas State University System, is seeking a Vice Chancellor for Student Services (VCSS). As the College’s chief student services officer, the Vice Chancellor for Student Services reports to the Chancellor, serves as a member of the College’s executive leadership team, and is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and strategic direction in the Student Services division to attract, enroll, retain, support, develop, and graduate students. Departments supervised by this position include Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Disability Services, Advising and Learning Center (tutoring), Career and Transfer Services, Testing, Counseling, Student Life, Residence Life, Conduct, Dining Services, and Trio/Student Support Services.A successful candidate will demonstrate experience in and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission; student success; shared governance; strategic enrollment management; holistic student support, development, and engagement; faculty and staff support, development, and engagement; program assessment; continuous improvement; innovation; technology; and the use of data for decision making. In addition, ASU-Beebe seeks a VCSS/CSSO who possesses proven experience in and commitment to communication, transparency, and collaboration within and among all areas of supervision and among all divisions and senior leadership of the College.Qualifications:
Earned master’s from a regionally accredited institution; doctorate preferredFive years of progressive management experience in Student ServicesDemonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college studentsSuperior interpersonal skills including tact, patience, and courtesyDemonstrated experience in enrollment management, student success, and program assessmentDemonstrated comfort with change, innovation, and technologyUncompromising integrity and ability to maintain confidencesExperience in a leadership position at a multi-campus, comprehensive community college is preferred.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement collaborative and innovative strategies focusing on enrollment growth and student success including retention, persistence, completion, transfer, and employment.Effectively manage resources and provide budgetary oversight for all Student Services functions.Oversee and review policy and procedures related to Student Services and recommend changes of the same in consultation with division staff.Provide leadership, mentoring, and management of personnel including hiring, assignment, transfer, training, professional development, evaluation, and termination of employees within Student Services.Facilitate assessment within all areas of the division and ensure the results are used to improve services to ASUB students.Coordinate and/or direct task forces and work groups as necessary to provide collaborative, effective, and efficient management of the division.Ensures compliance with ASU System Board of Trustees policy, ASUB Operating Procedures, Higher Learning Commission (HLC) criteria, Arkansas Dept. of Higher Education (ADHE) rules and regulations, and federal, state or local laws as applicable and relating to Student Services.Log and mediate student complaints.Serve as Title IX Coordinator for the College.Participate in ASU System and state organization meetings and activities, and collaborate with colleagues across the state to promote improved educational attainment rates for all citizens across the state.Maintain a visible profile and foster communication both on our campuses and with external partners and agencies by engaging students, parents, faculty, community agencies, employers, and members of the general public.Represent the College and actively participate in community and public activities that support and strengthen the College’s programs and mission.Prepare an annual report on the activities of the Student Services division.Collaborate with the Chancellor and the leadership team members in advancing the mission and priorities of the College.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience in an administrative and supervisory role. Minimum 5 years experience in student services. Broad knowledge of the philosophy and mission of community colleges. Master’s Required; doctorate preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written format. Strong commitment to shared governance and a collegial environment. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Preferred Qualifications
