We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing cost data to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient cost control within the organization. The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping the company understand its production costs and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis & Reporting:

Calculate manufacturing job costs & enter those costs into accounting software to be applied to individual jobs.

Monitor and analyze cost variations across manufacturing, production, and other departments.

Prepare cost reports, including profit margins, and provide insights to support decision-making.

Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine the effects on costs.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including cost estimates for production processes.

Compare actual production costs to estimated costs and suggest cost-reducing methods.

Inventory Management:

Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts to ensure accuracy in the valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

Perform physical inventory counts and investigate variances to resolve discrepancies.

Cost Accounting Systems:

Maintain and enhance the cost accounting system and ensure that it is correctly applied to all relevant processes.

Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with production and operations teams to monitor production efficiencies, waste, and costs.

Collaborate with the finance team to ensure that all accounting policies and procedures are compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Audit & Compliance:

Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.

Ensure compliance with relevant financial and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related roles in manufacturing or production environments.

Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams.
