Your Role
The Commercial Markets Analytics team provides financial reporting and utilization/clinical analytics to Commercial employers and their Brokers/Consultants. The Medical Informatics Analyst, Consultant will report to the Senior Manager of Commercial Markets Analytics in Data & Analytics under Information Technology. In this role you will fulfill reporting and analytics needs from employers and their brokers/consultants, provide consultative services to explain utilization and cost trends, collaborate closely with other Data & Analytics Teams or Business Teams to provide solutions and recommendations to improve member health outcome and lower cost of healthcare.
Your Work
In this role, you will:Conduct independent analysis of high complexity under minimal supervision and guidanceDevelop analytical methods so that they may be subsequently delegated for production to Medical Informatics Analysts at lower levelsProduce analysis of high complexity under the guidance and direction of Medical Informatics Analyst V, supervisor, or managerDevelop documentation and create and execute workplans for analyses of high complexity. Workplans may coordinate the activities of Medical Informatics Analysts at lower levels and may involve collaboration with more than one teamProvide training and mentoring for team members on best practices for analysis and reporting; assist in the development of supplemental analytic training tools and materials; conducts formal training sessions for lower-level analysts and analysts in other DepartmentsIdentifies business risks relating to data content and report design; proactively seek opportunities to enhance and improve department's processes, products, and servicesUses appropriate technical, clinical, and financial knowledge to assess the completeness and reliability of data and the validity and accuracy of analytical resultsPrepares presentation materials from various data sources that clearly and succinctly convey information to appropriate internal and external Blue Shield of California audiences; produce production and ad hoc reports and analytics under tight deadlines and within data governance and privacy guidelinesMakes oral presentations to internal and external customers. Interacts with internal and external customers to define analytical needs and to provide expert consultationsQualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
Requires an MPH, MBA, MS, MA, RN, or RHIA in health science, quantitative social science, public health, health services research or business, or BA/BS with demonstrated equivalent work experienceRequires SAS Certified Base Programmer Credential or equivalent and SAS Certified Advanced Programmer Credential or equivalentRequires at least 7 years of prior relevant experienceRequires at least 5 years of experience in Health Care (managed care, academic, or gov't payer)Expert knowledge of MS Office, VBA, SQL/PL-SQL, SAS, and Tableau; Qlik Sense and SnowSql desiredAbility to learn new skills quickly, high EQ promoting cooperation and collaboration, comfortable presenting in front of a crowd, familiar with different database design and data management concepts, expert knowledge of health statistical methods and healthcare financial or utilization reportingMust exhibit level-appropriate competence in Departmental competency dimensions (Communication, Agile Learning, Business Knowledge, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Customer Focus, Drive for Results)Able to travel to client sites for meetings or meet with team at different Blue Shield of California officesPay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $ 118800.00 to $ 178200.00 for California.
